The black tray, which contains up to 72% recycled content, is produced at the rigid plastic packaging firm’s Bridgwater, Somerset site. It has a PE coating and is being packed by Tesco supplier Hilton Meats Huntingdon.

The firm has produced tens of thousands of trays so far and the meat packer, which is part of the Hilton Food Group, is using around 2,000 a week.

The Mickey Mouse-shaped burgers are available in 70 Tesco stores.
