Hugo Chavez and Tetra Pak: breaking ‘capitalists’ laws

Less than a week left after the first incident with The Coca-Cola Company and its Zero Coke ban, packaging company Tetra Pak could become the next corporate giant to suffer at the hands of Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez after he questioned the validity of patented products.
The leader of the South American country announced that his government may copy packing technology developed by Tetra Pak in a bid to cut back on imports and reliance on foreign companies, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Jesse Chacon, Science and Technology Minister, said the country had spent $63 million dollars on importing packaging material manufactured by Tetra Pak in May.

Whilst I have heard of affluent western business men being kidnapped in parts of South America for extensive ransom, I was surprised to hear the Venezuelan government potentially holding the hugely affluent “Tetra pack” to ransom for its patented design. Let’s hope it can afford to “pack” more than a suitcase full off cash to get out of this one.
