Despite the recession, Cadbury UK reports 12% sales growth in the first half of 2009. Aimimg to reduce costs, the consumers stay at home most time treating themselves with chocolate bars and sweets.
As Marketing Magazine reports, Wispa bars and Giant Buttons as well as sales of its bite size Cluster bars buoyed UK sales. Global pre-tax profits were GBP 112m, down from GBP134m a year earlier although after one-off costs were stripped out it made GBP 262m, up 24%.
Another reason of growth is the cost savings and cheaper marketing spends on advertising in all media channels.
