Cigarette tin can with a zipper: mixed packaging trend

A recent trend has seen the use of mixed materials for packaging incorporating plastic, leather and silk papers with tinplate. This requires the harmonisation of design trends with hard cold-metal sheets, producing a final package that not only serves a practical purpose but is also pleasing to the eye.

Here is a good example from metal manufacturing specialist Virojanglor, illustrating contemporary design on metal packaging.

The famous French cigarette brand Gauloises (‘Gallic’ from French), withdrawn in France  since 2005 and now produced in Spain, has represented a special packaging for its Gauloises Blondes. Its outer pack incorporates a zip feature, reassuring the customer of product freshness while at the same time providing a fun, quirky element.

Although steel is the base material, they are mixing with plastic, integrating windows in PVC, even with luxury paper and leather imitations.
