Taboo take Gold in Pentaward Ceremony
8 October 2009 | By Popsop Team
The Taboo Group’s Managing Director Andrew Mackinnon in Brussels accepted an award for the NELSON beer bottle design, which received a gold medal in this year’s Pentaward’s packaging design competition.
Split into categories covering beverages, food, body, luxury, and others, the awards then have sub-categories for which there are gold, silver, and bronze medals with a platinum winner in each section, and a diamond award for overall best design.
Taboo received the gold medal for NELSON in the ‘beer, cider and low-alcoholic or non-alcoholic’ category. Andrew was proud to be accepting the prestigious award on behalf of the Taboo family, saying: “Taboo prides itself on delivering clients complete marketing solutions, and design is simply one facet of our service offering. We prefer a non-traditional approach and have always gone to great lengths to create unique and emotive work that helps a brand connect with its consumer This award is a wonderful prize resulting from that dedication,” said Andrew.
The design entered was conceived by Taboo in response to a project they have been quietly working on over the last two years – a lager named NELSON.
This design solution is one that sees Taboo work in collaboration with artists to produce a series of limited edition labels.
These artists hail from a diverse range of genres, and to date include: Sydney based design duo Sonny Day and Biddy Maroney, Melbourne band The Temper Trap, and Melbourne based fashion house Trimapee.
