Dolce & Gabbana Turned Madonna into a Sexy Italian Housewife
18 December 2009 | By Anna Rudenko
The Dolce & Gabbana brand has invited Madonna to be the face of its new Spring/Summer 2010 ad campaign. The theme of the photos, three of which are already available on-line, Madonna, the queen of reinvention, have the pop-diva as a hot Italian housewife.
The black-and-white retro-styled shots made by the famed fashion photographer Steven Klein feature the star doing the domestic chores — washing up, peeling the vegetables — and eating pasta with ultimately trendy brand’s clothes on. Gorgeous 51-year-old Madonna is a wearing perfect floral silk skirt with a simple dark top, a dress with a leopard print and a knitted black dress.
In the Vanity Fair Italy, from where the photos are taken, Stefano Gabbana discusses the campaign and tells why the brand ask Madonna to sign up: “She loved the collection,” he says, “…she is passionate and impressively knowledgeable about Italian cinema,” (Monica Vitti is her favourite actress and we see the resemblance).”
Nearly a week ago another global fashion brand Louis Vuitton replaced the star with Lara Stone in representing the Spring/Summer 2010 collection. With the new Dolce & Gabbana campaign Madonna doesn’t seem to be worrying about it a lot.
