Entertainment only gets better. Sony Corporation and Google Inc. announced on May 20th an agreement that will combine Google’s open source Android OS platform with the expertise and advancements in technology that only Sony has. The two giants are exploring the development of Android-based hardware consumer products.
Both will gain with such a partnership. Sony will get internet accessibility with monumental future growth potential with Google’s open source Android platform. Google picks up a partner known for cutting edge technologies, second-to-none engineering quality, innovative design, and a diverse portfolio of products. Google will get one foot in the consumer electronics industry and Sony will dance a foot in the internet industry.

So what is the first step for the two? The introduction of “Sony Internet TV” will be the world’s first television to incorporate the “Google TV” platform into its design. With “Sony Internet TV”, the consumer will be able to search and access programming from their televisions and across the vast internet.
The introduction of “Sony Internet TV” to consumers is scheduled for the Fall of 2010 in the United States. It will feature a lineup of both a standalone TV model and combination box unit incorporating a Blu-ray Disc drive.
Working together and with plans of future collaboration, Sony and Google will continue to deliver products and services giving consumers access to information and entertainment whenever and wherever they wish.
