Confectionery supplier Kraft Foods has hailed the success of Toblerone’s centenary celebrations in travel-retail around the world.
According to the supplier, many airports became “temples to Toblerone” featuring eye-catching decorations, sample giveaways and other promotions.
At Zurich airport the company worked with airport authority Unique and duty-free operator The Nuance Group to create a 30sq m (322sq ft) area featuring a Toblerone history exhibition and a 2.5m tall Fruit & Nut replica (pictured).
Gebr Heinemann’s Stephan Tasch said the promotion at Frankfurt International airport drove footfall into its shops and “generated incremental spend”. Screens on the concourse showed TV advertisements from around the world and customers were entered into a raffle to win a holiday in the Swiss Alps.
In Brazil duty-free operator Dufry Brasil recorded the best monthly Toblerone sales figures ever thanks to the anniversary promotion.
