Brennivin vodka in a woolen sock
6 October 2008 | By Popsop Team
Brennivin, the original Icelandic Schnapps, is the national unofficial beverage made of potato pulp and flavoured with caraway seeds.
It ia translated into English as ‘burning wine’ and sometimes called as svarti dauði (“black death”).
In order to convey the nordic spirit of this vodka, the state owner company ÁTVR packs it in a woolen sock to keep the Icelandic schnapps Brennivin cold or hot. It is sold in the national alcohol store, Vínbúð and it’s very difficult to find in the United States.
