The next year will be the last one for D&G, the line by the fashion giant Dolce & Gabbana as Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana announced they are going to fold the D&G line to focus on the top brand offer. “For the upcoming seasons, D&G will become part of Dolce & Gabbana, giving even more strength and energy to our collections. To us, it’s like going back to when we began our adventure: full of ideas,” they commented in an emailed statement as Reuters reported back in September. Now, the brand is calling its fans to help create the farewell video to the youthful line, which was first launched almost 20 years ago and now is coming to an end.
“The dance track D&G is LOVE, which was first mixed 15 years ago by Stefano Gabbana, has been dusted off and given a new lease of life. D&G is D&G, D&G is LOVE! That’s the dance floor mantra of Dolce&Gabbana currently getting your bodies poppin’ and our feet hot steppin’ and we’re giving you the chance to feature in the video. If you’ve ever fancied yourself as a music video director and you want to plug in directly to your favourite brand, then this is it. Dolce & Gabbana is encouraging its fans to submit their 30-sec clips, where they are having fun with their friends, singing, laughing, dancing, living their life to the full and showing why ‘D&G is D&G, D&G is Love.’ The track and the lyrics can be downloaded from the dedicated page www.dandgisdandg.com, and the clips can be uploaded there as well. The best footage will be used to create a branded music video—the submission period is running from December 14 until January 9, 2012. In September, the a dance track originally mixed by Stefano Gabbana 15 years ago was given a new life by 9 dance floor artists—in partnership with the dance label ‘Doityourself’ Dolce & Gabbana released it as a new album ‘D&G Music.’
