Red Bull is sold in ‘plastic’ cans in Germany
The German manufaturer of Red Bull energy drink set the production of ‘more sustainable’ plastic cans.
As the Packaging News reports, the drinks is availabel in a 250ml PET injection stretch blow moulded ‘can’ with an aluminium ring-pull lid welded on to the top, and decorated with a gravure-printed shrink sleeve.
The new package is the result of retailers’ reluctance to accept empty cans in the vending-style recycling machines, and the fact recycling PET is seen to be more energy efficient.
