Reserved style for reserved whiskey

Limited whiskies are interesting not only for the sake of their taste but for their strict labels as well.
A limited release of single malt Brora (about 3,000 bottles produced) is dated 2008. This is Brora’s first 25-year Scotch priced at $300 per bottle.
Big “8” at the humble label on this bottle of Port Ellen Scotch whisky immediately assumes this is a simple, eight-year-old spirit… but check the fine print. Distilled in 1979, this whisky’s been aging for 29 long years. This is the “Eighth Release” of Port Ellen’s single malt for $400 per bottle.
Oban 18 Year is 1993 distiller’s edition scotch whisky. 7716 bottles were released at $90 each.
The bottle of Stranahan’s Colorado whiskey is hand-labeled with a batch number, the date of distilling, signature of the distiller, and a comment. $60 per bottle.
Scapa 16 year old scotch whisky has an elegant label and still more elegant bottle.
Rye whiskeys are a relative rarity in a world of Scotch, bourbon, and Canadian whiskey. (rî)¹ (rye one) is one of the examples for $48 a bottle. The bottle is as extravagant as the whisky, which said to be hard to make, and demand is relatively low. And lest you think the chemical/math fun was over, a (ri)2 and (ri)3 are already in the works.
