Well done Beck’s for keeping its continuing commitment to the arts fresh and relevant to the brand. You can’t get much closer to the brand’s roots than the pub, and dressing iconic pubs as CD covers makes the link between the arts, music and Beck’s unmissable. Literally.

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when I saw this. I love packaging, I am absolutely passionate about it, but I wouldn’t want to sing about it. Randy, if you can create songs about packaging that people actually want to listen to, then hats off to you mate. But my gut reaction to paeans to packaging is to reach for a beautifully crafted whisky bottle or maybe some earplugs.

What's in a Name?

The brand name development process must be robust and capable of attaching specific meaning to what is often a broad set of challenges. Craig Swanson discusses three macro approaches that can be used to create a distinctive brand name.

Five Macro Trends at Work in 2012

Anthem's expert Kathy Oneto forecasts that 2012 is the year of Movement and Progress across a number of dimensions.

It’s Time to Put Some Fun Back into Marketing

While it’s true that consumers are cost-conscious and more deliberate in their purchase-making decisions as a result of the recession, it’s also true that they’re looking for some bright spots in their daily lives.

Time for Brands to Invest in Defensible Design

It’s nothing new that brands rely on colour recognition, and in some cases words, to boost consumer recognition on noisy shelves. Both are vital in driving market share.

Celebrating Health

The future of taste is in the celebration of food. Healthy eating brands need to move from the visual imagery of tape measures, weighing scales and comparing ‘before’ and ‘after’ shapes.
