Following an international creative pitch, CARTILS was selected to design the limited edition of S.Pellegrino, Nestle Waters’ mineral water brand, for the Cannes Film Festival 2011. Since 2010 the brand is the Official Partner of this prestigious international festival.
The limited edition had to celebrate iconic moments of the 1960’s Italian cinema. Besides enhancing this connection, the design also had to express a contemporary look and feel, reflect an emotional
connection with the consumers and be in line with the brand personality. Most importantly, it had to be a tribute to the Italian lifestyle.
The design of the Festival edition reflects the well-known quality of S. Pellegrino and creates a special edition feel. The iconic design elements were maintained to preserve the brand essence and visual
identity. For the glass bottle, put in a fine dining environment, the design focus was on subtle and refined new elements. For the shrink pack on the other hand, the limited edition needed to be an eye stopper to draw the attention of consumers in an off-trade environment. The dark blue colourcombination is therefore differentiating from the normal shrink pack.
A filmstrip was introduced as a concept to create the connection with the Italian cinema and style. Silver detailing was used to create even more sophisticated feel, and that was a reference to the early years of cinematography.
The limited edition has been launched in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Italy.
