Toyota actively uses social platforms for its other car models promotion. The company has launched a social platform for Camry owners in the US and promotes its new Yaris with pop-videos.
Toyota still keeps in secret the details on the new car, though some technical details are known. The FT-86 model will be powered by a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated engine jointly developed with Subaru combining Subaru’s proven boxer engine architecture with Toyota’s D-4S injection system. This will result in an increased horsepower and torque without sacrificing fuel consumption and environmental performance, says the Toyota’s blog.
The new Facebook game lets users to drive a virtual FT-86 II Concept around a course personalized with their own Facebook photos. The game shows a first-person view down the track, but there is no cockpit view and no image of the hood stretching out in front of the car so users have to believe they’re driving the FT-86.
There are also contests for auto enthusiasts provided. While racing the car, gamers earn points that allow upgrading and modifying their cars. Once the FT-86 has enough points and ready, users will be able to compete in the Toyota Championship against other Social Network Racers for the chance to win one of two great prizes.
The winner of Toyota Championship No.1 will fly out to Japan to see the covers come off Toyota’s next sports car and visit the Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival at Fuji Speedway, sponsored by Toyota Motor Corporation. This competition runs till October 31.
The winner of Toyota Championship competition No.2 will receive an exclusive painting of the FT-86 created by the concept car’s designer. The second championship starts on November 1 and runs until November 15.
The race began on October 20 and will continue through until December 31.
