Strategic design agency, BrandOpus, has expanded its management team with the appointment of Ken Hommel and Leo Hadden as associated partners. Ken joined BrandOpus as finance director in 2008, and brings 31 years’ design and advertising agency experience to the management team, having previously worked with London agencies Lewis Moberly, Amacom and Conran Design Group.

On August 4, Kraft Foods Inc. announced that its Board of Directors intends to create two independent public companies: A highgrowth global snacks business with estimated revenue of approximately $32 billion and a high-margin North American grocery business with estimated revenue of approximately $16 billion. The company expects to create these companies through a tax-free spin-off of the North American grocery business to Kraft Foods shareholders.

Nokia, which last year presented an awesome stop-motion set ‘Dot,’ the world’s smallest character animation, recently has released a new story dubbed ‘Gulp,’ the world’s largest stop-motion animation video. Both of the spots were filmed with N8 phones with 12-megapixel cameras to prove that these mobile devices are just perfect for creating artwork, not just communicating with people on one’s contact list.

Nearly 40% of entrepreneurs are developing ‘knowledge-as-a-service’ businesses

Entrepreneurs are rapidly adopting sourcing as a method to jump-start their projects, according to a recent study by blur Group, the world’s largest Creative Services Exchange. blur Group surveyed 1,546 members of Innovatrs, an Innovation Exchange™  where corporations worldwide can discover, partner with or invest in innovative startups and entrepreneurs.  The findings show that nearly 40% of entrepreneurs are developing ‘knowledge-as-service’ business models.

Nestlé belongs to the list of companies determined to lessen the environmental impact of its packaging. To foster positive changes related to smart treatment of used packaging, the food giant has released the world’s first free, mobile application for iPhone and Android devices dubbed 123Recycle, which scans the products barcode and shows tips on the best ways to recycle the packaging.

PepsiCo delegates from around the globe are among the 600 young leaders attending the Ninth Annual United Nations Youth Assembly (UNYA), a three-day conference, which began yesterday, August 3, at UN headquarters in New York City to discuss progress against the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). PepsiCo is sponsoring the trips of 34 delegates in an effort to empower youth, allow them to build leadership skills and encourage awareness of world issues.

The BMW Guggenheim Lab launches its worldwide tour today, August 3, in Manhattan’s East Village. A combination of think tank, public forum, and community center, the Lab will offer free programs that explore the challenges of today’s cities within an innovative mobile structure that was designed to house this urban experiment. Over the next six years, the Lab will travel to nine cities in three successive cycles, each with its own distinct theme and structure, to help raise awareness of urban challenges and yield sustainable benefits for cities around the world.
