Working with the Natural Resources Defense Council, Walmart and H&M committed to working with their Chinese textile suppliers to reduce water, energy, and chemical use in their supply chains. Walmart announced its work with NRDC’s Clean by Design project at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative, helping strategically selected mills adopt Clean by Design practices. H&M initiated a similar agreement with NRDC September 13.

Nike is going on promoting the urgent need for giving girls in developing countries more opportunities to get out of poverty. One of its initiatives, Girl Effect, is now being ‘refreshed’ with a new exciting video released. At this year’s Clinton Global Initiative conference (September 21-23), Nike, the recognized influencer in the area of social changes, unveiled its second inspirational spot for the program, encouraging more people to join in, donate and give girls in deprived communities a chance for improving their lives.

This year, Levi’s launched a series of new projects and creative partnerships revolving around the ‘labour’ theme as part of its campaign dubbed “We Are All Workers,” which was kicked off in early summer. Some of these initiatives—like opening printmaking shops—were new, and some emerged from the previous programs. The annual «Billy Reid Shindig» celebration, which was held in early June in Alabama, belongs to the second category.

Nike never misses a chance to get into big sport events: the new campaign by the brand has been kicked off to mark the launch of the new NFL season and pay tribute to those who make sport spectacular. The new promotional project, developed at Wieden+Kennedy Portland is revolving around the “Boom!” theme and features renowned athletes, school football teams and celebrities who starred in a series of 15-second spots.

Calvin Klein, Inc., along with Calvin Klein Fragrances, a unit of Coty Prestige, and Warnaco Inc., which owns and operates Calvin Klein Underwear and is the global licensee for Calvin Klein Jeans and Swimwear, announced that Warnaco will launch a new lifestyle brand of contemporary men’s and women’s jeanswear, underwear, and swimwear under the existing fragrance brand name “ck one.” This new apparel line will take inspiration from the globally recognized ck one unisex fragrance brand and will be supported by a new global marketing and advertising campaign.

Converse started its new Fall 2010 brand campaign entitled «The Procession» featuring product with the iconic Converse «Star Chevron» logo including the new Star Player Evo shoe. Developed to pay homage to legends of Converse’s past, present and future and to celebrate basketball along with the breadth of Converse product, the ad shines a light on the iconic Star Chevron mark and gives nod to its authentic connection to the worlds of sport, music and culture which has helped define Converse for decades.

For the fourth consecutive year, through its PUMA.Peace program Puma supports the global sportive event One Day One Goal, the initiative of the nongovernmental organization Peace One Day. The goal of the campaign is to unite kids and adults around the globe through soccer and help them cooperate. This year, to commemorate Peace Day (September 21), more than 3,000 matches were organized across the world primarily in the regions, which are now experiencing violent conflicts or having tough times recovering from natural disasters.

Remember the viral video “Guy Walks across America” shot for Levi’s? Being the internet hit this summer, it inspired the brand to develop a big-budget and educational project, revolving around the same idea—travelling.  Levi’s announces the premiere of “Norte a Sur: Una Ruta, 5 Experiencias,” a new TV series chronicling the journey of five American Latinos along the Pan-American Highway. The show airs on Discovery en Español Saturdays, from September 25 through November 27.
