The Glenfiddich Distillery Gallery in Dufftown, Speyside, opened the second exhibition of work created by artists participating in its 2010 Residency program. The exhibition, which opened on Friday, August 27, features new pieces by five of the internationally-acclaimed artists currently living and working at The Glenfiddich Distillery: Damian Moppett (Canada), Carrie Iverson (USA), Shiau-Peng Chen (Taiwan), Matthew Sandager (USA) and Hayoung Kim (South Korea).

Two weeks ago, a 10-man team from Girvan demonstrated their warm love for their work as well as honoured a former workmate, Jackie Ross. When the cooper, who worked 42 years at Grants’, retired, his colleagues decided to do something extraordinary in his honour. They took the last barrel he made, de-constructed it for the climb, carried the pieces to the peak of the Britain’s highest mountain (1,344 meters) and rebuilt the Glenfiddich barrel again.

The actions of the key political parties as well as ordinary citizens were “marked” with a little cucumber on the www.gineralelection.com website. Once the elections were over, the biggest cucumbers were used for producing the finest gin.
