Ahead of St. Patrick’s Day (March 17), Guinness has released a series of tongue-in-cheek adverts, encapsulating the theme of sharing happiness and joy as part of the campaign, which is running under the straplines ‘Share a Smile, it’s St Patrick’s Day’ and ‘17th March, the Friendliest Day of the Year.’ The saint is widely known as the patron of Ireland, and Guinness, which is associated with this country like no other brand, celebrates the event annually for over 15 years with a bunch of activities and new products (for 2011, for example, it released a new special sauce produced in partnership with Heinz).
Last year, in support of the 63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival Stella Artois, the official sponsor of the event, was running a charming campaign revolving around ‘mysterious disappearance’ of Jacques d’Azur, the ‘King of Cannes’, under which they were on the lookout for a rightful heir of the man (and finally found one). This time, ahead of the 64th Festival de Cannes, Stella Artois is going to bring the international playboy back through cinematography, and so the brand is giving its fans a unique opportunity to star as Jacques d’Azur in a short film about his life.
Today, February 15, Stella Artois introduced the latest episode in the campaign for its premium 4% triple-filtered smooth lager produced by Mother London Agency. The whole series of video ads takes the viewer back into the 60’s to the sun-lit French Riviera and sees the title characters—attractive young men played by different actors—going through a number of changes in one episode, to eventually make an outstanding appearance in the eyes of a lady and order a glass of Stella Artois 4.
The Doritos ‘Pug Attack’ user-created commercial about a dog which goes for chips scored the No.1 ranking in the 2011 USA TODAY Super Bowl Ad Meter rating, bringing its creator, JR Burningham, one million dollars as a prize from PepsiCo.
