New Balance, an American sports footwear manufacturer, teamed up with Counterkicks, the web-resource showcasing the news of footwear, to run a design contest aimed at finding the most innovative idea for an iconic and lightweight New Balance Sprint Spike shoes. Every pitch was evaluated by the panel of judges based on the following criteria: inspiration and story, innovation, and execution. This criterias were used by the judges (professionals from New Balance design team including Brett Golliff, JF Fullum, Kyle Strek) based on the criterias of evaluation for professional projects they normally use at work.

ChopChop, the fun cooking magazine for kids and families announced today that Boston-based New Balance Foundation will grant $1.1 million over three years to expand their ability to inspire and educate kids ages 5-12 on the topic of cooking and nutritional literacy. The grant is part of New Balance Foundation’s long-term commitment to childhood obesity prevention and will enable more kids nationwide to receive the non-profit magazine that offers nutritious recipes, fun food trivia and engages kids in cooking to empower them to take charge of their health.

With only three months left before 2011, global companies are gearing up for creating calendars for the upcoming year. While some brands invite celebrity photographers to shoot and movie stars to be featured in their calendar editions, New Balance Germany decided to crowdsource this job,  inviting creative talents to contribute to the brand’s new SNKRlendar.
