To mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on February 6, 2012, Diageo‘s John Walker & Sons, Scotch Whisky Distillers By Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen, is to produce a limited edition of 60 crystal decanters of ‘Diamond Jubilee Blended Scotch Whisky by John Walker & Sons’. The unique blend of whiskies distilled in 1952, the year when The Queen acceded to the Throne. The decanters will be finished in a marrying cask of English oak from The Queen’s Sandringham Estate.

Johnnie Walker opened The Johnnie Walker House in Shanghai, the first of its kind outside of Scotland, which marks a new chapter for whisky culture in China. Celebrities and the social elite joined in the event:  Xia Yu, who was a named winner at The 51st Venice film festival; Chen Kun, winner of both the Huabiao and Baihua award; and Peter Chan, the influential film director and producer took part in the unveiling ceremony on May 19. The three celebrity guests, along with Johnnie Walker’s Master Blender, Dr. Jim Beveridge, led a tour for distinguished guests inside The Johnnie Walker House and engaged them in an interactive exploration of centuries-old whisky culture, from the shores of Scotland to the luxury of Shanghai.

Jim Beam debuts the latest innovation in its portfolioDevil’s Cut, bourbon whiskey is created using a proprietary process that extracts the liquid trapped inside the wood of the bourbon barrels. The product is a robust premium bourbon with a deep color, aroma and character that showcases notes of wood, oak and vanilla derived from the barrel wood.

Glenfiddich has partnered with MOJO music magazine to present New Voice award. They competition organizers are looking for the unsigned singers and songwriters in the United Kingdom. Very gifted, but unsigned. The culmination of this competition will be marked by a live event at London’s Gibson Studios in July, when the top five finalists, as selected by MOJO readers, will perform in front of music industry stars panel chaired by editor Phil Alexander.

On March 31, Glenrothes, a Scotch whisky brand from Skyy Spirits portfolio, has announced the names of its ‘Whisky Maker’ competition winners. According to the rules of the contest run previously by the whisky brand, 4 winners from different countries will travel to Scotland and spend a week in May as The Glenrothes Whisky Makers, meaning they will participate in the process of whisky production, and of course, be able to nose and taste the drink of different sorts and age.
