Last year, illy encouraged students and alumni of the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York present their own vision on Big Apple through photography in the AuthentiCity competition. In October, 2010 the main prize $10,000 in cash was awarded to Igor Aronov, who was selected out of five finalists for his bespoke impressionism-inspired series ‘Reflection of the City.’ The coffee brand is now returning with the second installment of the project, which attracted over two hundred photographers in its first year, and inviting aspiring visual artists to explore the nature of the city with their cameras again and unlock its secrets in their stills.

Next month, Morgan Spurlock, who is well-known for his shocking ‘Super Size Me’ film ‘dedicated’ to McDonald’s fast food, will present his new documentary ‘POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold,’ which is all about product placement and sponsored by companies featured in it, to a broader audience.  The new work by the acclaimed filmmaker who comes face to face with brands debuted at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival in January with the theatrical release slated for April 22 (in the U.S.).

Leading U.S. corporations announced on March 7 they are taking steps to create a new packaging trade organization. AMERIPEN will engage on public policies impacting the packaging value chain on topics related to packaging and the environment, and will represent the interests of the industry which includes raw material producers, packaging manufacturers, packaging users and fillers, retailers and material recovery organizations.  Corporate founders include The Coca-Cola Company, Colgate-Palmolive, ConAgra Foods, The Dow Chemical Co., DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers, Kellogg Company, MeadWestvaco (MWV), Procter & Gamble, Sealed Air Corporation and Tetra Pak Inc.
