Technology is moving forward, and time does not stand still. But people do not change, continuing to damage the environment. But there are also heroes are able to save from an ecological disaster not only the whole forest but also the whole world using sometimes the most unusual but accessible methods.

David Milar from Michigan tries to save California redwood or, in other words, sequoia or mammoth tree from total disappearance.

They are pardonably considered as the biggest trees in the world. These giants grow up to 100 metres high with the width of more than 8 metres and more than 2000 years lifetime! It is unbelievable but some of existing samples were planted in the days of the Roman Empire.

At first things were going well and before the middle of 19 century sequoias grew in California – on a coast sequoia forests occupied an area of about 8000 square kilometers from Big Sur up to the south state Oregon. Than a gold rush began and caused a mass deforestation. And by now only 5% of an original coast forest was preserved.

Of course, not only people should be blamed for this. After all, climate changes, causing changes in the flora and fauna, still exist. And if animals that are not comfortable with living conditions are able to migrate to more suitable areas for life, then the trees can’t.

David Milar, who (as he claims) in 1991 was on the verge of life and death, decided to help the trees to get out of the situation, having organized the process of migration. His current mission is to preserve and collect the genetic code of the coastal forests and help them in resettlement. While making the process of cloning and transplanting of mammoth trees to a place where they flourished earlier but were cut down, he not only increases their numbers, but also ensures their longevity.

Is the problem not obvious at the governmental level? And does David have to solve environmental problems of a global scale alone? For example, in Beijing (China) in order to restore and rehabilitate large-scale damaged wooded plateaus, agroecology methods are used, and last year in June Norway stopped supplying and manufacturing some products, the production of which leads to a reduction in forest area. Today, the government officially announced the cessation of any production that negatively affects the green plantations of the country.

However, whether the world around us is green and flourishing, depends not only on global measures of the government, but also on internal culture and respectful attitude of each person to the nature.
