Knicks Poetry Slam is a joint project run by the New York Knicks and the Urban Word NYC (a non-profit organization involved in the field of youth literacy and personal development) aimed at encouraging young people from the big city to have their say in poetic format. This project is supported by the leading sportswear brand as Nike. This is a competition for young poets that allows them to demonstrate their talents in public and compete with others for a chance to earn a better future: the winners will be awarded with educational grants, $450,000 in total, www.nikestadiums.com reports. 

In the season of presenting new fashion collections, Hermès is paying tribute to sustainability by creating a new fabulous addition to the brands rich heritage. The House re-imagines pieces of cloth and leather left over from creating bigger models as well as other flawed things by turning them into something incredibly cute and touching. The brand unveiled the Petit h’ collection of jewelry and decorative accessories described as a series of “unidentified poetic objects,” which create a magic world of tiny miserable things that were given a chance to make a big impact.

This fall, Bombay Sapphire® Gin and Russell and Danny Simmons’ Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation teamed up to create the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series—a nationwide search to discover the next big names in both urban photography and multi-media art. During a series of regional gallery events, twenty artists from these two categories were shortlisted and invited to Miami for a grand finale event during Art Basel. After much deliberation, a jury panel selected Washington, DC photographer Stan Squirewell and Miami artist Jorge Cavalier as the first ever winners of the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series. Both artists will have their work installed at the Rush Arts Gallery in Manhattan from January 13 to 27, 2011.

Yesterday Absolut Vodka unveiled the results of its creative collaboration with Krink, an award-winning New York based artist, and Exit magazine. Krink was commissioned by the global vodka brand to create individual custom designed Absolut limited edition bottles. Each of the 70cl bottle should be customized in a unique way. So far, the artist has finished working on 15 of them and added his signature in KRINK ink, in striking black, silver and white.

Ahead of Christmas, Levi’s is launching a competition, which echoes the major theme of the brand’s latest ‘Go forth‘ campaign and is supporting the idea of its latest project dedicated to craft, Levi’s Photo Workshop. The brand teamed up with the Hipstamatic community to kick off the ‘Holidays Captured’ contest, which revolves around sharing the festive spirit and taking hilarious digital stills, which encompass the vintage style of film photography.

A unique exhibition is now taking place in Somerset House in London. From now and until January 09 you may see the most opulent and iconic works created by the famous fashion illustrator of the 20th century Rene Gruau, who for 40 years of his life worked with Dior. The exhibition is designed to celebrate this collaboration and show Gruau’s original artwork for the House of Dior, as the visitors may see over seventy original illustrations for Christian Dior sketches, perfumes, magazines and poster ads created by the artist.

Almost each season, Perrier-Jouët collaborates with renowned artists and celebrities to create another project to mirror the nature of the refined champagne. This fall, the brand unveiled a series of watercolour illustrations by Kareem Iliya, who dedicated his visuals to the theme of the Dandy Ball. Now, ahead of Christmas celebrations and exquisite parties, the brand presents a nice follow-up, “a lavish leather bag containing a bottle of Perrier-Jouët Fleur de Champagne, two glasses and a notebook on the art of drinking champagne,” which is sure to add to the festive spirit.
