Adidas launches a new scholarship to support students from across the globe in the marketing and data-driven strategy fields. For the fund dubbed “The adidas Fellowship for Future Data Talents,” the sportswear giant once again has teamed up with the digital learning institute Hyper Island in Stockholm, Sweden. This partnership will provide one student with a free-of-charge seat in The Digital Data Strategist program that was first introduced  last year.

Björk’s Biophilia album, which was launched back in 2011 as the first-ever multimedia album with an array of iPhone and iPad apps, is about to get a second life on other platforms. The artist has created a project on the Kickstarter platform, asking the global community to support the development of the apps on the Android and Windows 8 operating systems to make it easier (and cheaper) to use it within the Biophilia Educational Program. The minimum donation is just £1, and the expected amount is at least £375,000 (the deadline is February 27).

Samsung is tackling the problem of lack of education in Africa in a simple but stunning and inspiring way. The tech company launched its Samsung’s Internet Schools Programme, which brings “technology-rich learning and teaching” K-12 classrooms to distant and rural regions of the countries. Through the initiative, the brand aims to foster education in poorest regions using the most cost-efficient, but effective and sustainable technologies—the new classrooms are opened in old shipping solar-powered renovated containers.

Google is committed to provide audience with numerous opportunities to broaden their cultural horizons. In 2010, as part of its Art Project, the Internet giant opened the doors of the most celebrated museums around the globe online, allowing users to view art masterpieces in detail on their computer screen, and in May 2012 it invited to explore the wonders of the world online. This spring, Google  also unveiled an online platform dedicated to Nelson Mandela’s life and work, and now it invites the audience to explore 42 exhibitions about people’s storiesbehind major events of the last century, including Apartheid, D-Day and the Holocaust,” says Google Blog.

Skype is taking its “Skype in the Classroom” initiative further by introducing more online lessons, based on partnerships with international organizations from various fields to educate kids around the globe on important issues. As part of celebrating World Teacher’s Day last Friday, the VoIP service launched several new classes by NASA and British Council—to join in, users are just asked to click of the class plus click on the “Sign up to take part” button.

Western Union, an international money transfer system, in collaboration with the Dutch creative agency 180 Amsterdam have launched a new promotional campaign, a social project called PASS. The initiative is  fronted by former international football star Patrick Vieira and start during the Group Stage of the UEFA Europa League Season 2012/13, which kicks off on September 20 across Europe. 

Leading design and innovation company Seymourpowell, in partnership with the Design & Technology Association and the James Dyson Foundation, have launched a campaign film featuring contributions from leading figures from across business and industry. The film promotes the importance of Design and Technology (D&T) education in Britain’s schools and universities, its contribution to successful business, and its fundamental role in supporting the UK Economy.
