Unilever has released its new Sustainable Living Plan focused on minimizing the environmental impact of the company’s brands. The program will be rolling out for the next 10 years and will help the company produce more sustainable products and as well as reach a set of economical targets. Unilever CEO Paul Polman unveiled the plan in London, Rotterdam, New York and New Delhi at the same time on November 15 and noted that the new plan is to “create preference for our [the company’s] brands.”

A range of processed food, drink and alcohol manufacturers as well as fast food companies are collaborating with the UK Department of Health to develop a government policy on obesity, a problem which mainly roots in improper eating habits. The companies, which teamed up for working on the paper, are McDonald’s, KFC, PepsiCo, Kellogg’s, Unilever, Mars and Diageo.

Unilever and Walgreens unveiled a new activity and life skills learning area at the Midtown Education Foundation’s Metro Achievement Center, USA, serving inner-city girls in Chicago from grades 4 through 12, at an event here yesterday evening. The new Activity and Life Skills learning area, a formerly unfinished and unutilized space at the Metro Achievement Center, will expand personal and educational development programs to support girls ages 8 to 18.

TNO and Unilever announced that they have entered into a three year collaboration to explore the links between diet and health. Unilever’s wealth of scientific knowledge in nutrition and health, and in depth understanding of consumer behavior will be combined with TNO’s innovative approaches in human health research. The collaboration has received a grant from the Dutch governmental innovation program Food and Nutrition Delta.
