LAUNCH, the coalition of technology supporters that includes such organizations as NIKE Inc., NASA, the U.S. Agency for International Development and the U.S. Department of State, is adding some Nordic-based new members such as IKEA, Novozymes, Kvadrat, Arla and a number of government institutions, to form LAUNCH Nordic. Since 2010, the coalition has spotted and supported “visionaries whose ideas, technologies or programs have the potential to create a better world.”

IKEA Norway uses a new compelling method to drive awareness of the 2014’s product catalogue in social media. The furniture retailer launched a campaign by Oslo-based agency SMFB that motivated customers to take photos of the catalogue pages featuring their favorite pieces and then share them on Facebook and Instagram.
IKEA Switzerland aims to battle loneliness this festive season with its newly launched initiative dubbed “No Empty Chairs at Christmas.” The furniture retailer is offering a match-making (not dating) service now, allowing each person who doesn’t have a company on December 24-26 to finally find it through a dedicated site.
IKEA strives to help consumers live their lives more sustainably. The Swedish retailer, known for offering smart interior solutions at affordable prices, now invites the UK consumers to buy the solar panel packages for private houses to make them as green as never before. The new equipment will be available at all 17 company’s stores within the next 10 months.
