Bullying and how can we fight with it

stop-bullying

Everybody knows that there is a person who is often teased and mocked at in any establishment which has members whether they are a school, a university or an office. This fact was called bullying. We will tell you in our Popsop research how people fight with this and how a simple invention of an ordinary American girl managed to outmatch all mind-bending psychological methods.

Stigmatization, aggressive pursuit, discrimination and, finally, bullying – what name though this fact may have, according to the statistics, its extent is constantly increasing. The teenagers suffer from bullying most of all. About 40% of children at the age of 11 and 27% of children at the age of 15 become objects of derision and laughing stocks all over the world. If the wipes aren’t being stopped the suffering person will become screwed-up and transfers this way of life on further scales – university, work, family.

Thousands of psychologists develop a huge number of methods which are aimed on prevention of bullying development in schools and other social institutes. Statistics shows us how effective all of this by its data. But people who often don’t have any psychological education find their own methods of fight against process oppressing the society.

So, the teacher and philosopher from the North America John Dewey developed a system called Link crew. This system-wide the “link crew” of the most positive, active and possessing leadership qualities pupils is being created. They are chosen trained to become “chiefs” for the younger schoolchildren and for those who switches to a new educational level (1st form, 5th form, 9th form) and all beginners. Every chief has 3 – 5 fosterlings with whom they should communicate every day finding out all problems in advance. A school psychologist or a teacher oversees the “link team”.

In the USA and Canada the Link crew obtained a wide circulation and now taking part in this team is considered as a meaningful school subject and pupils get marks at this lesson. And what is more, it’s a great privilege and competition of applicants per place. Here are the words of the Link crew participants.

One of the fathers from Norway who worried about the state of his child thought out not very original but quite efficient anti-bullying method according to which the cases of stigmatization are analysed by the elected institute “The Council of Dads”. It includes respectable fathers belonging to a ministry of internal affairs staff, public prosecution office, jurisprudence or military sector as far as possible. Maximum 4 people. The Council of Dads analyses cases of bullying upon the application of a teacher of suffering pupil and control the fulfilment of sanctions for the bully. As a rule, the first precedent stops stigmatization in school.

Unconsciously, the Norwegians rediscovered the Method of The Farsta Method used in Stockholm. It was discovered by a Swedish psychologist Karl Ljungstrоm. The meaning of the method is closely intertwined with “The Council of Dads”. In the eye of Ljungstrоm every school should have a group of 5 – 6 people, adult teachers who could quickly react in case of bullying but do this occultly.

Moreover, those who accidentally have become the victims also try to fight with the bullying. 16-year-old Natalie Hampton gives a worthy example. She developed a special app for a smartphone which gives pupils an opportunity to find an adequate group of friends in school canteen.

This idea crossed the lady’s mind after she had to eat her lunch alone every day during the 7th form because the classmates always goofed on her. Natalie remembers that at that time she felt herself very vulnerable and ready to become ready for more bullying.

With the help of developed free app Sit With Us the school children can invite other pupils to join them for lunch. The app also allows declaring an “open lunch” which gives everybody an opportunity to sit together and, may be, find new friends. Everything is very private, through the phone, and the person can be sure that he won’t be banished if he comes to someone else’s table.

According to Natalie after she had experienced all of this she felt that she was obliged to do something standing against bullying but with the positive overtones. And she managed to do this. The app was launched in the beginning of September but has already got a lot of positive comments.

By the way, Natalie studies in another school now and she has good relationships with the classmates and an active social life, however, she can’t forget the time when she sat in the canteen alone. In the description of her app the lady mentioned that after she had changed the school she made a practice of inviting those who eat alone to join her and her group of friends. In the words of Natalie, many of these people have become her best friends.
