Yesterday, June 17, the betacup (a project aimed at finding a more convenient alternative to the non-recyclable coffee cup) and Starbucks Coffee Company, the major sponsor of the movement, announced the winners of the contest launched on April 1 to engage creative thinkers in solving the disposable cup waste problem through open collaboration.

The way we are making and selling design is becoming generic and confusing. One of the challenges is that design, as creativity, is described as a product, an end goal. When the fact is that neither design nor creativity is a result, it’s a description of how we get there, not what we will end up with.
