It provides people who own the brand’s vintage pieces with an unprecedented opportunity to have the submission estimated without sending it for appraisal. The service is free and the collector gets a response within 2-4 weeks.
The website’s definition of the Gucci vintage products is the following:
“Gucci vintage products are historically significant items that have a relevance to Gucci’s history for their style, illustration of a trend or possible link with a celebrity or historical figure. Generally, a vintage product is a less common piece and will be at least twenty years old, but other limited edition or special products may qualify”.
The team of specialists that is to evaluate the items includes Christie’s experts and in-house archivists. The collectors should provide them with good color images of the pieces, information on dimensions and materials they are made of and as well as copies of any available documentation of the item. If the thing is worth being sold at Christie’s, it will be auctioned off or purchased by the brand.
