The Converse shoe brand and art magazine Dazed are inviting all unsigned artists to take part in a new contest 2010 Emerging Artists Award. They are searching for UK-based creators under 35 who are not represented by a gallery, university or art school. The best 6 entrants will receive £1,000.

The participants can choose a style and category themselves, it can be even video, sound, performance or sculpture. The panel of experts will select one winner and 5 runner-ups, whose works will be exhibited at the renowned Stephen Friedman Gallery in London in July and August, 2010.

To be on the list, the artists are to submit a portfolio of up to 5 images, CV and a one-page story about what inspired them to create the pieces. The videos or sound works should be no longer than 3 minutes. If you want to join in, send the works by May 1.
