Converse to Promote Chuck Taylor Gorillaz Collection with a Music Track

To promote its new Chuck Taylor Gorillaz collection, Converse rolls out the ‘Three Artists. One Song’ collaboration again. A new single named DoYaThing, by Gorillaz, featuring Andre 3000 of Outkast and musician James Murphy will be released on February 24.

The single will promote the new limited edition range of Converse sneakers styled to celebrate the Gorillaz band. The collection will be available online starting tomorrow, February 23. Designed by comic book artist Jamie Hewlett, who created Gorillaz characters, the shoes feature the camouflage Chuck Taylor high top sneakers. Hewlett has also recently drawn characters for ABSOLUT London bottles.

Teaser trailers on YouTube and Twitter promotion should make Gorillaz fans impatient. International fans will be able to purchase the sneakers online and at Converse retail stores. The other marketing initiatives will include a street party in Singapore and billboards in the UK.

Converse is also promoting the collection with help of Gorillaz’s despot character Murdoc Niccals. The character has created a pirate radio station and has been sending transmissions from a brand new mystery location since the beginning of February.

Devoted to music, Converse launched its own studio last year. Located in Brooklyn, the Converse Rubber Tracks recording studio offers artists an opportunity to sign up and record music for free.
