Beckham, a famous soccer player, fashion icon and current Samsung 2012 Olympics ambassador, announced details about the collection and his business partner Simon Fuller earlier this year.
“Over the past year, I’ve been developing my Bodywear range with my team and I’m extremely positive about what we have designed and produced,” said Beckham. “The final piece in the jigsaw was a retail partner who has the vision and capability to distribute these products globally. In H&M we have found the perfect partner to collaborate with.”
The launch is planned on Valentine’s Day next year, says The Telegraph. The partnership will last initially for two years and new products will be stocked seasonally.
Beckham was the global ambassador for Emporio Armani underwear collection in 2007, which had a phenomenal success.
Swedish group H&M has already partnered with celebrities in recent years, including Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Madonna. Its Lanvin range sold out within hours in November last year. This fall Versace will supplement the list of iconic high fashion couturiers that create exclusive collections for the democratic-priced apparel brand.
«It marks the beginning of a significant relationship between H&M and David Beckham, with new Bodywear products being launched seasonally,» H&M said in a statement on Thursday.
