Dolce&Gabbana’s S/S 2011 Collections Celebrate Sicilian White Summer

Dolce&Gabbana continue highlighting the Italian nature of the brand’s fashion traditions in their magnificent advertising campaigns. The cult fashion House unveiled a new set of prints focused on the idea which was the key one in the previous promotional works—pure Sicilian spirit and refined style soaked with sexuality to the core. Last year, the brand treated public to perfect shots featuring Madonna turned a housewife and fabulous somewhat gay demigods, and for this year’s campaign promoting D&G’s S/S 2011 men and women collection, the brand opted bursting emotions to be the leading tune.

The photo session for a menswear collection was directed by the brand’s ‘fathers’ Domenico and Stefano. Adam Senn, Noah Mills, Tony Ward, David Gandy, Sam Webb, Travis and Sam Whitman, guys with perfect bodies and faces, ‘starred’ as fishermen, strict Italian fathers and peasants wearing light and all-natural clothing (white shorts are the best) under the scorching Italian sun. The stills are just full of sun and sea breeze, they are soaked with sweat and joy of after work time, full of pure emotions of common people enjoying their life full of simple pleasures and hard physical work. Perfectly shaped abs, sexy silhouettes and masculine spirit comes as one of the major components of the photo set.

The prints of the women attires collection feature gorgeous Alessandra Ambrosio, Izabel Goulart, Isabeli Fontana, and Maryna Linchuck and make up a story of graceful Italian ladies, who are waiting for their men at home and doing their duties with the same dignity as a queen does hers. They are as emotional as the sea near their homes. Dressed into perfect black and white gowns and lacy and silky wedding night lingerie, they are goddesses in the tough reality of stone villages.

Both photosets in black-and-white palette, which takes us back to Fellini’s cult films, were shot by Steven Klein (you can see more prints here and here). To watch the videos from the fashion show, go to Dolce & Gabbana’s YouTube page.
