It would seem that not so long ago, agriculture entered the era of its degeneration, thanks to the use of aqua and hydroponics for domestic food production. However, these technologies have already overtaken the changes that allowed them to join the modern Internet space.

Future Tech Farm is a project of a decentralized home farm with the size of a microwave oven consisting of a series of small modular hydroponic systems with Internet access. Each farm is a kind of «node» of a single centre in which developers control all the processes of growing, resource allocation, technical condition, etc. Having such a module at home, people can grow plants, watch their cycles, see how other users are dealing with similar farms and communicate in a specially created community by pressing a pair of buttons.

At the same time, the «smart system» will offer versions for increasing your own performance in the event of an unsuccessful harvest. The authors of the project are Brian Falther and Austin Lawrence, who decided to implement their ideas in order to develop and promote the most profitable agricultural practices in the world to support the active growth of the urban population. According to Brian Falther, the technologies underlying the project are an effective way of decentralized food production.

Future Tech Farm is based on Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) technology. The global mission of the project is the development of innovative technologies that will help to make fresh eco-friendly food safer and less expensive than ever before.

In fact, it is only part of a larger-scale Urban Tech Farm project. Similar ideas have already got support of local staff from Kettering University, MI-SBTDC, and The Right Place Company. In addition, the organizers received several micro-grants from the support funds, and believe that this is far from the end.
