The project is led by Google Street View Co-inventor and director of Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory ‘Sebastian Thrun’ that consists of 15 engineers who previously worked in leading Automobile and IT companies.
The innovative car features a system that combines information gathered from Google Street View and Artificial Intelligence Software. A Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) Sensor placed at the top of the car, radio Sensors on the front of it and Position Sensor at one of the wheels help to locate the car’s position on the wheel.
The driverless Toyota vehicle that has already been tested on the highways of Nevada soon will drive on the streets to check how effective the car’s system can be when using in everyday life. Once the system gets approval from the traffic police of the USA, Google will launch the system in different countries.
Google is also developing the innovative glasses that would allow people to easily navigate through the streets, communicate with friends and get the latest news on the go.
