Google Presented Magnifier, a New Music Discovery Site

Google launched a new website for music fans called Magnifier. With this music discovery site featuring hundreds of music, video performances and interviews with artists, Google follows its recent project Music Beta. It’s a service that allows users to upload your personal music collection to the cloud and listen to it on the web or to an Android phone or a tablet.

Magnifier is a blog that gives users the opportunity to discover new artists and tracks and add free songs to their music collection. It features a free ‘Song of the Day’, a handpicked ‘Google Artist of the Week’ and a spotlight feature. The first band is Grammy-nominated indie rock band My Morning Jacket and users can watch an exclusive video interview and add their new single and a live track ‘The Day is Coming’ to their library.

Users can also explore different genres, which hold hundreds of free different tracks. To get these free tracks and hundreds of other songs in the Free Song Archive, users need a Music Beta by Google account, says Google’s official blog. To get it they need to request an invitation. After registration it’s easy to find the songs at Magnifier, and by clicking on the ‘Add free music’ buttons the tracks will be instantly added to the library in Music Beta.

The service is currently available only in the USA.

Another Google’s new highlight is Photovine, a photo-sharing application for iPhone from Google has just appeared on the App Store. The application offers mobile users a way to share photos in public threads called ‘vines.’ It is focused on community storytelling through mobile photos, and features the idea explaining tagline: ‘Plant a photo, watch it grow.’

Google is currently in the process of acquiring Motorola Mobility to reinforce Android, which is the biggest deal in the company’s history.
