An extraordinary cucumber poll, conducted by the Hendrick’s gin, described the daily growth (or lack of it) of four Cucumis sativus as they were «absorbing» the party ideas, which influenced the British people on the National Election Day on May 6. The actions of the key political parties as well as ordinary citizens were “marked” with a little cucumber on the www.gineralelection.com website. Once the elections were over, the biggest cucumbers were used for producing the finest gin.
Each day during the election campaign the plants were contemplating briefings from the party manifestos. The overall growth of the vegetables on each of the plants was measured by Sicilian representative of agricultural business Mr Vito Colletti from the UK Salads company. Vito is a leading British expert of growing cucumbers and a member of the Cucumber Growers Association.
The Hendrick’s resident Cucumber Analyst, comedian and political observer Mr Simon Evans translated the growth rate data from from the power halls of the glass terrariums into a language better understood by the common voter – English – and later posted it on the website for all to view.
Visitors can submit their political programs on how the country has to be ruled to the website, and the cucumbers will select the best ones considering the political course of the major parties.
