LEGO has launched an online platform for those passionate about building LEGO and sharing it with other fans. Called ReBrick, the social media platform is open for fans ages 13 and up.

Though there are already several LEGO fan community web sites with big auditory ReBrick’s purpose is not to replace them. Instead, ReBrick will provide an index and user-friendly access to user-made creations made by all LEGO fan communities.

According to Online Community Lead Peter Espersen, it was created not to promote LEGO products but as a hub for all Lego-based creations and projects made by LEGO fan community, reports Wired.

To create ReBrick, LEGO has communicated with fans and the name of the platform was chosen together with the Lego fans. A specificity of the platform is the ability for users to add bookmarks to the site. They can add the URL of a given page, e.g. Flickr and share its multimedia content on the ReBrick pages.

Espersen said that “more than 500 people from inside and outside the LEGO Group have helped shape this social media hub, from the site design and development to the house rules”.

The LEGO Group will continue collaborating with the fan community to add more features to the platform. Last fall, the company has launched LEGO CUUSOO, a web platform to search for new ideas for its products.
