3 June, 2011, London —With only a month left until the best brand seisei’s in 2010-2011 are announced, we are proud to name the semi-finalists which have topped the chart in May.
An absolute newcomer to our listing, Sprite, The Coca-Cola company-owned brand, has shown amazing success and experts’ appreciation for its Sprite Spark Parks Project in the U.S, having become the No 1 best brand sensei as of May and according to overall chart points.
The two other ranking’s stalwarts— Levi’s and Coca-Cola—have, again, performed well and appeared on the top of the May chart due to their «Unlock the Water» and «New rRET Recycle Program» campaigns, respectively.
Having been set as a good trend for the last 3 months, environmental ‘green’ (ECO) campaigns have become traditional leaders, gaining the highest everage score in the ranking compared to 2 other groups of sustainability ‘sensei’s’: positive thinkers (FUN) and innovation setters (MIND).
Surprisingly, all 3 brands have been voted for their out-of-the-box youth marketing campaigns, targeting Y and Z generation, that part of audience, which is the most responsive to any ‘wise and teaching’ brand messages.
Despite Sprite’s winning breakthough, in an overall brand sensei’s chart (aggregating all data over the last 10 months since August 2010) there has not been any significant shift: Google and PepsiCo still hold leading positions in Top 3 annual ranking. So, for the time being, the leaders of the overall brand chart since August 2010 have become: Sprite, Google and PepsiCo.
We would like to think that this ‘green’ teaching vector will remain a cornerstone of sustainable brand communications for the next decade. Eventually, the aim of the SBA ranking project is not to reveal and celebrate the one, two or more Brand Sensei’s, but to give a fresh push to sustainable initiatives, positive thinking projects and innivation drivers to bring brand communications at a more philosophical level.
