Michael Kors Plans a Karaoke Contest for 2012 Fashion’s Night Out

Brands are getting ready for this year’s Fashion’s Night Out, which will take place on September 6, to lure consumers with contests to their stores. For example, Michael Kors will be hosting a karaoke contest at its new Madison Avenue store in New York.

Fans will be able nominate their favorite YouTube song to perform in a competition on Fashion’s Night Out at Michael Kors new store at 667 Madison Avenue in New York. The designer and a panel of celebrity judges will judge the contest and award the winner with $5,000 to shop in the store. The fan who nominated the winner will also receive a gift certificate. The top-three nominated performers will be singing for Kors and other celebrities including Nikki Reed, Nina Arianda and Kate Upton.

To enter the contest, consumers should tweet #MKFNO #KorsKaraoke with the name and link of a performance.

All fifty-five participating Michael Kors stores will offer three limited-edition products: a Jet Set Monogram cosmetic case with an illustration of the brand’s green-and-gold aviators for $68, a T-shirt with the print for $45 and gold aviators with flash lenses and the designer’s signature for $50.

Consumers who buy the aviators will have the opportunity to be pictured by photographer Victor Demarchelier.

Other Michael Kors stores will also hold events. The Rockefeller Center Lifestyle store will host a digital illustrator and those consumers who buy the limited-edition aviators will receive an e-sketch of themselves in their new sunglasses, says Luxury Daily.

Michael Kors’ plan for a karaoke night does just that, playing into his celebrity appeal and playful nature”.

The 2011 Fashion’s Night Out took place in 17 countries and many luxury brands were running their special events worldwide.
