Nestlé UK has announced it removes all artificial ingredients from all its 79 confectionery products replacing it with alternatives.

For example, Nestlé uses carrot, hibiscus, radish, and lemon to give color or flavour its popular Rolo and Smarties products. This move is a result of the consumer demand for fewer artificial ingredients in food. Nestlé has already removed artificial ingredients from all its beverages in the UK, including Nesquik.
Earlier this year, the company has improved the packging of their several key products to meet the needs of all people in the US and Australia.
“Pleasure is, and will always be, our priority for confectionery,” said Marcelo Melchior, Head of Nestlé’s Confectionery Strategic Business Unit. “A responsible approach towards our product portfolio will help us to be recognized as offering the confectionery brands consumers feel best about purchasing.”
The company is working with their suppliers to strictly control the quality and taste of the products. The story has started seven years ago when Nestlé began to research the issue and found out that there’re more than 80 artificial ingredients that could be replaced with natural ones.
It’s not disclosed if the ‘natural taste’ will influence the price of the products. Nestlé has only unveiled it is to do the same change in Canada and a number of other European markets.
