Nokia Unveils New Accessories for Its Smartphones

Nokia has unveiled two new accessories for its smartphone range—Nokia Purity Pro Wireless Stereo Headset by Monster and the JBL PlayUp Portable Wireless Speaker.

The first one was presented this week at IFA inBerlin. The headset, in four colors—red, yellow, white and black, offers a wire-free connection to a Nokia phone using Bluetooth, while the one-touch pairing is available through NFC.

The high-end quality by the Purity Pro is enhanced by Monster’s active noise cancellation technology. The noise cancellation and Bluetooth are activated right after the headset is unfolded, and switches off again when it’s folded up after use. The product will be available in the end of 2012 at approximately €299.

The second new award-winning product, the JBL PlayUp Portable Wireless Speaker for Nokia, also in bright vivid colors is made of double-shot plastic, which adds extra durability. Due to the JBL technology, the PlayUp portable speaker boasts of “crystal clear” sound with a maximum output of 89dB making it a perfect solution for picnics or living rooms. It also features a bass port, which functions as a woofer. Music is also transferred using Bluetooth and people will be able to operate the device using a dedicated app.

Though te PlayUp is designed especially for the upcoming Lumia range, older phones or MP3 players without either Bluetooth or NFC can also connect to it using a standard 3.5mm jack.

“Next-generation Lumia smartphones using Windows Phone 8 will be able to tap-to-connect using NFC – an extra convenience that will speed up your time-to-music considerably,” reports Ian Delaney in a blog post on Nokia Conversations.

The speaker is not tiny with dimensions 118 x 118 x 128mm and weigh760g. The rechargeable battery lasts for 10 hours. The speaker hit the stores before the end of the year and will cost approximately €149.
