Puma has found a way to reduce waste generated by shoe boxes. It has just introduced a new alternative design of the packaging that saves materials and is much more eco-friendly than conventional boxes. Puma’s Clever Little Bag is developed in collaboration with industrial designer Yves Behar, and it marks the new round in the brand’s sustainability program.
The new boxes will start to drive the conventional boxes out of the market in 2011. Puma spent 21 month for choosing one right concept out of 2,000 ideas, and the result is truly great.
The new pack is made of 65% less cardboard, still it is of the same functionality. Its design is much simpler, so it requires less labor and reduces water, energy and diesel consumption by more than 60% annually. The Clever Little bag is lighter and takes less space, and so it cuts down on transportation costs and pollution as well. It is also 100% recyclable.
The bag is made with the help of non-woven technology and requires less work and materials. It protects the box from getting dirty and can be used as a shopping bag or for shoe storage.
