Chin Ru Foo, Diageo GTME marketing manager white spirits, rums and liqueurs, said, «Many shoppers in travel-retail are looking for something new and different that they can’t find at home and we are confident of meeting that need with this exclusive launch of the Smirnoff Espresso limited edition.»
The inaugurational product activation was performed in April 2011 by Diageo jointly with King Power Group International (Thailand) at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International airport where the product is featured on LED video walls and DJ booths where a DJ is giving live performance once in a while. Shoppers may also take pictures of themselves in interactive photo booths to further email them to their friends or print them out on Smirnoff-branded frame.
This is to mention, Smirnoff has a vast experience in operating in travel-retail area. Back in September 2010, the brand first introduced its Limited Edition Augmented Reality Bottle at global travel outlets using a variety of executions that included simple interactive stands and 3D booths offering visitors a true crowd-surfing experience.
