Finally it’s time for Sweden to get a limited edition of Absolut. Absolut SVEA is the name on the bottle that is designed and dedicated to the Swedish home market. The effort to find the right, interesting partner with it’s own expression was a long term work which resulted in a collaboration with Fredrik Söderberg, one of Sweden’s most interesting artists.

Usually, brands put the focus on positive things while promoting its products, but sometimes they decide to forget about sweet things and dare to come close to the line, which divides the gritty criminal world and the life of model citizens—of course, only in advertising, not when doing business. Humorous or ironical advertising campaigns featuring robbers, spies, thieves, corsairs, undercover agents, peace-breakers and all sorts of baddies (barring cruel dictators) as well as their victims are showcased in this review.

As part of the Dazed Live festival, which was held in London this Saturday, one of its major partner, the Absolut Vodka brand, presented an exhibit called  ‘A Celebration of the City through Self-Publishing’ exploring the past, present and future of the capital and its culture of independent zine publishing. For the retrospective installation, Absolut London collaborated with jotta.com, an online community for artists and creatives.

Absolut Vodka once again collaborated with US artist Ron English to deliver another piece of art. In 2010, the painter created a huge artwork ‘X-Ray Guernica’ on the walls of the refrigerator at the ex-slaughterhouse in Rome and Andy Warhol’s ‘Double Elvis’ in Milan as part of the Absolut Wallpaper project. Now they have teamed up to create design for a new limited-edition bottle of the iconic vodka.

Eat the city, drink the city, wear the city. Is it possible? With brands, there’s nothing beyond the bound of reality. The second part of our Brands and the City review is championing brand’s editions dedicated to metropolitan areas and smaller locations around the globe. Vodka, soft drinks, travel guides from luxury makers, burgers, accessories, coffee products, sneakers and a range of other goods, which pay tribute to various destinations, are now in the spotlight.

The Absolut brand has been a source of inspiration for a plethora of creative minds since it was introduced in 1979. For over three decades, it has become the most artistic vodka of all times with a range of paintings, installations, art projects, photo sessions and gorgeous advertising campaigns being created to celebrate Absolut’s nature. Recently, Paul Graves, the famed photographer), has joined the ranks of cult art personalities by presenting his vision of the iconic vodka, reflected in a numerous pieces of mirror.

Inspired by 500 years of vodka making expertise, Absolut has spent the last decade inventing a new vodka. Crafted from hand-selected estate wheat, and blended with soft and naturally filtered water, Absolut Elyx is a true expression of quality. It is a small-batch vodka, produced according to craft techniques, in an authentic 1929 copper rectification still. The result: a handcrafted super premium vodka with an elegant, silky texture.
