Absolut Vodka, known for its impeccable respect for visual arts and design, has sponsored the 2011 ABSOLUT VISI Designer of the Year Awards. Featuring the best in décor, design and architecture, these awards are designed to celebrate the most talented South African designers and architects. The ceremony took place at Chavonnes Battery Museum in Cape Town and was attended by 250 guests.

This year’s ceremony marks the fifth anniversary of collaboration between the luxury vodka brand and VISI, South Africa’s leading design magazine.

According to winetimes.co.za, the party had a tremendous success, as «hunky ABSOLUT barmen measured, mixed, and poured a kaleidoscopic array of delectable ABSOLUT cocktails and gorgeous ABSOLUT babes served these colourful concoctions to the crème de la crème of South Africa’s designers».

Mark Bayly from Mnet’s All Access was MC for the evening.

The first prize of the ABSOLUT VISI awards went to Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens for their work in Braamfontein precinct in Johannesburg.
