Google is rolling out a new set of web-based products designed to support the freedom of speech all across the globe by battling online censorship. On October 20-22, 2013, the tech powerhouse is bringing together “hacktivists,” security experts, entrepreneurs, dissidents and other people related to the problem at a summit “Conflict in a Connected World” in New York. 

YouTube, the virtual domain where any unknown but talented artist can become a true sensation, is announcing its first-ever YouTube Music Awards show. The inaugural 90-minute ceremony is slated for November 3 at Pier 36 in New York. Google-owned video platform YouTube will leverage its online power to livestreame globally. The ceremony will feature both live performances by recognized artists and pre-recorded stunts by artists from across the globe, from Seoul and Rio to Moscow and London.

Interbrand’s “2013 Best Global Brands” top 100 list has revealed that Coca-Cola, which used to lead the chart for the previous 13 years, has lost its dominance as the most valuable global brand, yielding precedency to the technology giant Apple estimated at $98.3 billion. The total value of all 100 best global brands is $1.5 trillion, which is 8.4% record increase over 2012, Interbrand reports.

Following the anti-extremism and anti-human-trafficking online networks launched by Google earlier this year, the tech giant is rolling out a new online humanitarian project, Constitute, which is a searchable archive of fundamental sets of laws of 160 countries of the world. The project was launched on September 23 under the banner of Google Ideas, the branch which had given a grant to the Comparative Constitutions and made this initiative possible.
