Italian fashion giant Gucci has teamed with a roster of female celebrities to launch a new global campaign, Chime For Change, aiming to empower women across the globe. Beyoncé Knowles, Salma Hayek and Frida Giannini, Gucci’s creative director, have become the ambassadors of the new initiative, announced at the TEDxWomen luncheon yesterday, February 28. The effort is designed to inspire girls and women in different parts of the world to be bold, strong and enthusiastic about claiming their right for a better life.

Mintel and Leatherhead Food Research have released a study that shows that natural colors are overtaking artificial/synthetic colors in food on the internatioanl scale. According to the research, the global sales of natural colors exceeded those of artificial ones, meaning that food and drink products all around the world now feature more organic components than before.

Nike launched its innovative Nike+ FuelBand over a year ago to help athletes from all around the globe to keep track of their daily physical performance. Huawei, the China-based telecoms operator and smartphone manufacturer, is rolling out its new branding campaign entitled “Make it Possible,” designed to increase the brand’s recognition on the global market. Miss Dior is spreading the spring and feminine spirit with its latest “La Vie En Rose” advert. It is the second time Sofia Coppola and Hollywood A-lister Natalie Portman have collaborated on a commercial for the perfume brand, with the first spot launched back in 2011. Following Apple, Microsoft, BlackBerry and Google, Mozilla is launching its own Firefox OS to be used in smartphones from Alcatel, LG, ZTE and later Huawei, all powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon™ chipset. Unlike rival iOS and Android OS, Mozilla’s OS is a free, open-source technology that provides more freedom to mobile carriers and, more importantly, to developers, enabling them to develope every feature as an HTML5 application

H&M is contributing to the global recycling movement in a new way for the company. On February 21, the fashion retailer officially launched a new worldwide apparel-recycling initiative, which allows consumers to help save natural resources and get a little money in return. Customers can leave bags with used and unwanted clothing from any brand in the special green-and-white “Long live fashion!” containers across all H&M stores worldwide. The garments will then be recycled or reworn, depending on their condition.
