Villeroy & Boch Encourages Participation in Global Handwashing Day

Wash your hands with the little ones!” This is the call by Villeroy & Boch to parents all over the world to join their children to practice handwashing. Soap and water are still the simplest and most effective methods of preventing infections. However, there are too many children living in inadequate sanitary conditions all over the world—and there is also a lack of targeted outreach about infectious diseases and the right hygiene measures.

The purpose of Global Handwashing Day on October 15 is to improve this situation. This day marks the climax of a week of children’s activities held in 80 countries on five continents. In addition to numerous communication activities, Villeroy & Boch is also taking part in the form of its “Wash your hands with the little ones!” contest.

The campaign is designed to encourage parents worldwide to practice handwashing with their children. In connection with the promotion, Villeroy & Boch is holding a photo contest. Those who take snapshots of either parents washing their hands with their children or just the children washing their hands and submit the photos to the brand’s Facebook page will be entered in a drawing for a Villeroy & Boch Subway collection children’s vanity (washbasin and tap fitting) and for Villeroy & Boch children’s tableware.

Winners will be drawn from among all entries submitted. Submission deadline is October 30, 2010. Photographs will be published anonymously online (without name, address or personal data).
